We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support the financial operations of our growing software and staffing services company. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles, be comfortable with industry-specific transactions, and demonstrate proficiency with accounting software. This role involves handling day-to-day accounting tasks, supporting monthly closing activities, and assisting with financial reporting. Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, manage client billings, and handle vendor payments; assist in tracking accounts receivable for software and staffing services clients.
- Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accounting software, ensuring all transactions are properly documented and categorized.
- Bank and Account Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts to ensure data accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
- Payroll Support: Assist in payroll processing for staffing services, ensuring accurate calculation of hours, rates, and deductions.
- Expense Tracking: Monitor and record business expenses for both software development and staffing services, ensuring compliance with budget guidelines.
- Monthly Close Support: Aid in month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and basic financial reports.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare basic financial statements such as profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for review by senior management.
- Compliance and Audits: Support compliance with financial policies and assist in preparation for internal and external audits as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 1+ year of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a service industry setting.
- Accounting Software Knowledge: Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, FreshBooks, or similar); familiarity with staffing industry software is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
- Excel Proficiency: Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
- Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and external clients.
